I got an email a few minutes ago from twitter telling me that Osen Komura was now following me. Great, so I wanted to see who this Osen was. Turns out, Osen is following 21,735 people.
Curious, I did some research on Osen and found that this person is trying to calculate the rate of following/followee on Twitter. What I mean by that is, if I follow someone, how likely is that person to follow me? Following someone on Twitter is basically like giving that person a direct-line of communication to you (remember, I said basically, not exactly). It turns out, there is around a 10% ->F<- Rate (that’s a craftee little thing I made of up for Following/Followee ration).
Discovering this little ratio is why Osen is following you. I hope this blog post doesn’t ruin the Osen experiment. I myself chose not to follow Osen, but hey, I’m socially anti-social.

I was wondering as well, but then are you sure he’s calculating so, or is there something else going around in his mind?

I just got followed by him (her?), by now he/she is following 36,667.
I think the experiment is flawed, a lot of people won’t reciprocate, thinking it’s a bot. At least that’s what Ithought.

I allways like to see who the people are that become friends on of the now tons of social networks. It kinda creeps me out when the person follows/friends us and they have not taken time to update their stock profile. I like to know who is taking there time to stalk us.

Even more fascinating… the rate at which you get blocked for this stalking behavior.

I was just notified that I’m now being followed by Osen. The following count is now up to 42,497. I chose not to follow back - I reserve twitter for people I know.
Thanks for the post!!

I was also followed by Osen, but as well by hundreds more like him. I never ‘follow back’ those who just follow people by the sake of having more followings or to get people to follow them (if this makes any sense).
My twitter is in spanish, so it was even more ilogical to me that someone who I didn’t know, and spoke a different language, would like to follow my twitter.
Never mind, block.

following me too!
so strange how clicking on this osen’s website brought me here…the interweb is a strange place

Yeah, these internets are weird. I think like 8/11 people who commented here ended up following me on twitter.

(came here via G~, wondering who the hell “Olsen” was. Why isn’t there a Piss_Off! button on Tw~?). Now, what is the relationship between F, the reciprocal follower index, and the number of followees that the initiator already has? As n becomes Loads, interest tends to Not Bothered.

Too wierd, just saw she was following me - I don’t even remember getting a notification.

I *might* have followed osen back, had they said anything of interest to me.
